We're half-way through January and the month of Veganuary, and really pleased to see so many diners enjoying the lovely vegan dishes we've got on the menu this month. For many people it's a case of new year, new start, new eating regime. And with all the publicity about Veganuary and the impact that having at least one meat-free day a week can have on the environment, it's high time you took a second look at the imaginative vegan options we've got on our menu. Eating vegan need not be boring, and in fact, they're some of the brightest, most beautiful dishes going out of the kitchen.
There's always soup for starters, but in addition this month you could also choose a Greek Salad or our Potato Rosti & Jerusalem Artichoke. It's such a pretty, colourful dish, and it tastes amazing too.
We've really enjoyed creating something just that bit different for Veganuary this January. Take a look at our roasted celeriac steak dish. Featuring pickled and puréed celeriac, herbed mushroom sauce, tarragon oil and tarragon powder with watercress as well as the roasted celeriac steak, it's a spectacular looking dish, which is getting rave reviews from diners, both vegans and those looking to try something new.
And we've also got a really lovely Thai Green vegetable curry on the menu. Decorated with swirls of shaved coconut and served with fluffy basmati rice, it's a dish to warm the very cockles of your heart. They always say you should 'eat the rainbow' and this vegan dish certainly lets you do that, with a real rainbow of flavours and colours.
By it's very nippy nature, January calls for an old school proper pudding, but none of that stodge you'd get in a traditional school dinner at Imperial Hotel of course!
Especially for Veganuary we've introduced a fragrant rice pudding dish onto the menu.
It's incredibly pretty, a delicately spiced rice pudding including dried fruits enveloped in a saffron syrup, with crystallised hazelnuts and pistachios. Together it's as warming to the soul as it is to your tummy, and pretty as a picture to feast your eyes upon.
If you're doing Veganuary this year and are running out of steam with recipe ideas, don't give up - book at table at Imperial Hotel.
Café Cru is open for evening meals from Monday to Saturday, and most dishes are also available on The Terrace, open daily for lunch from Monday to Sunday. We'd love to show you what vegan delights you could be treating your tastebuds too.
And if you're dining out with a die-hard meat eater, don't worry, our lovely menu will cater for them too. But maybe, just maybe, faced with such culinary beauty, they might be tempted to join you this Veganuary?
